• Wind damage — Tropical storms and afternoon thunderstorms push mesh beyond its limits, especially on larger panels
• Tree branches — Falling limbs puncture or tear screen panels, particularly during summer storms
• UV degradation — Central Florida’s intense sun breaks down screen fibers over 7-10 years, making mesh brittle and prone to tearing

What pool screen repair involves

A typical screen repair job includes:

1. Assessment — We inspect the damaged panels and the surrounding frame to make sure there’s no underlying structural issue
2. Screen removal — The old spline (rubber gasket) and damaged mesh are removed from the frame channel
3. New mesh installation — Fresh screen is cut to size, stretched tight, and rolled into the frame channel with new spline
4. Cleanup — Old screen and spline are removed from the work area

We use the same screen type as your existing mesh unless you request an upgrade. If your current screen is standard 18x14 fiberglass, we’ll match it. If you want better visibility or durability, we can install 20x20 no-see-um mesh or premium Phifer Super Screen.

When to repair vs. rescreen

Repair makes sense when:

• 1-4 panels are damaged
• The aluminum frame is structurally sound
• The remaining screen mesh is in decent condition
• Damage is from a specific incident (branch, animal, impact)

Full rescreening makes more sense when:

• 5+ panels are damaged or deteriorating
• The mesh is faded, brittle, or sagging throughout
• You’re seeing pinholes or tiny tears across many panels
• The screen is 10+ years old

Screen mesh options for repairs

• Standard fiberglass (18x14) — Most common, good visibility, budget-friendly
• No-see-um mesh (20x20) — Tighter weave blocks smaller insects, slightly reduced airflow
• Phifer Super Screen — 3x stronger than standard, better UV resistance, lasts longer
• Pet-resistant screen — Heavy-duty vinyl-coated polyester for homes with dogs or cats
